Last Course Magazine
CLIENT: Last Course Dessert Magazine
ROLE: Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Photographer, Editor
BACKGROUND: Last Course is a dessert-focused editorial magazine I created as part of a university assignment to design and produce a complete publication. The project explores the visual and cultural appeal of desserts through editorial storytelling and strong visual direction. I developed the magazine’s concept, visual identity, and layout system while also producing original photography and illustrations to support the content. The design emphasizes elegant typography, dynamic layouts, and rich imagery to create a cohesive and engaging print experience.
PROCESS: I began by researching dessert publications and editorial design to establish the magazine’s visual direction and tone. From there, I developed the concept for Last Course, focusing on desserts as both a cultural experience and visual subject. I created the layout system, selected typography, and planned the editorial structure to ensure consistency throughout the publication. I also produced original photography and illustrations to complement the articles and enhance the visual storytelling. The final step involved refining the layouts, editing content, and preparing the magazine for print to create a cohesive and polished editorial piece.
RESULTS: The project resulted in a fully designed and printed editorial magazine that showcased my abilities in layout design, photography, illustration, and editorial storytelling. The strength of the final publication led to Last Course being selected for exhibition at California State University, Fullerton’s Evening of the Brain Printmaking Art Show in 2022, where it was displayed among other student works to a broader campus audience.
